Encaustic painting was originally used by 5th century Greek painters in Egypt with a revival in the 18th to 19th centuries and into our contemporary world of art. I formulate my oil-based medium with specific proportions of purified beeswax and natural fossilized resin. Each unique artwork is created with a variety of suspended textures, images and color pigments which are fused into many translucent layers.
The final painting cures and hardens into an ever-enduring work of art while preserving a stratum of visual depth.
Each of my encaustic paintings tell a unique story, blending images over a lustrous sculptural landscape.
